Vintage Mid 20th Century Ernest Huntley Hart Horse Rider Painting Study

Vintage mid 20th century watercolor on paper painting study of two vaqueros (cowboys) on horseback by Ernest Huntley Hart (1910-1985) American. Signed E. H. Hart lower left. Displayed under glass and mat in narrow black wood frame, opening size 8″ x 5.5″, scuffing to frame, age toning. A comic-book writer and artist best known for creating Marvel Comics’ characters Super Rabbit and The Wasp. Ernie Hart began his career with the Works Progress Administration (WPA), joining Marvel Comics (then Timely Comics) soon after. He remained on staff until the 1960s when he began freelancing (still a regular hire for Marvel Comics). In addition to his Marvel contributions, Hart wrote, edited and illustrated numerous books on dog breeding and ownership.
