A very stylish Austrian Art Deco stylized bronze figure of a wading bird by Richard Rohac (Austrian, 1906-1956) made in Vienna in the early 1930’s. Rohac spent his early years as an apprentice with Werkstätte Hagenauer Wien and continued to work with them for many more years before opening his own metal workshops in Vienna in 1932. The Style is clearly influenced by Hagenauer using the contrasting polished and black patinated bronze elements with the bird standing supported on a hoop and with one leg raised and preening its feathers. The figure has an impressed RR monogram and is marked Made in Austria.
