Vintage Design
This simple slender beech frame dining chair was designed in 1960’s by the renown Czech furniture designer Antonin Suman. The softly curved bentwood backrest is a typical design aesthetic of this era and overall it perfectly embodies the elegance of the so-called Brussels Style (named after the Expo 1958 in Brussels where Czechoslovakia won 13 prizes including one in the furniture category). The upholstered seat is padded and comfortable to seat on. The original fabric was sadly damaged beyond repair and therefore was replaced by a new one, which nicely contrasts with the colour of the beech wood.
Chair is in great vintage condition. The beech frame has been polished by hand using Shellac varnish and the original damaged fabric has been replaced.
