With bright color and sculptural form, this squared vase combines the centuries-old phoenix tail vase form with a rich persimmon-orange glaze, popularized during the Art Deco movement of the early 20th century. The vase is decorated on all sides with poetry and sprays of graceful orchids, symbols of love and beauty. A light blue glaze coats the interior and two faux-handles sit just below the shoulder, shaped like auspicious fu dog guardians.
