Rectangular in shape and finished on all four sides, this beautiful travel trunk would make an elegant coffee table. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1895 by Maison Moynat in the style of Louis Vuitton, the fruitwood trunk with leather side handles, features decorative brass mounts and leather straps in the corners, metal straps and wood bands around the front, top and sides. The Art Deco chest is dressed with brass nail heads, and a decorative triple lock mechanism on the facade. The inside is upholstered with rouge purple muslin fabric, and the inside is further embellished with a label of provenance which reads: ” Sacs de Voyage, Malles Legeres, Moynat, 5, Place du Theatre Francais”. The versatile blanket chest is in excellent condition with a rich patinated walnut finish.
