Vintage Design
This 1401 armchair was designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen during the 1950s. With a straight back it sits on a graphite black painted steel frame. The back and seat are both made from steel, which has been lacquered, and equipped with a removable cover with foam rubber. The seat has two armrests in bakelite. This chair was first shown at the 10th Milan Triennale (1954) and was awarded with a gold medal. Is has been re-upholstered with a wonderful green Kvadrat Tonica fabric (wool).
