Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this stunning pair of fully restored, hand dyed Cigar brown leather, circa 1920’s Wingback armchairs

These chairs are a real tour de force, they have absolutely everything going for them, the leather hide is original and hand dyed from new, the stud work is all antiqued and hand nailed in place. The legs are elegant and recessed, they are what’s called a George H Frame model because if you lay the chair on the its back, the stretcher makes the letter H, the seat base is fully buttoned which is the highest model that was ever produced

This pair have been fully restored to include having the old colour washed back, they’ve then been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed down and polished, the end result is this one off lovely cigar brown colour.

Guglielmo Ulrich Grand Wingback Chair in Natural Cream Upholstery

Guglielmo Ulrich, high wingback chair, fabric, wood, Italy, 1930s

Grand high back chair newly upholstered by the experienced craftspeople in our in-house atelier. This chair features an exceptional high backrest with wings, giving it a very theatrical appearance. Typical for Italian midcentury design are the curvy, bold shapes such as the voluptuous armrests. The green feet are small and conical. This chair is a comfortable classic winged chair with an elegant high back that will fit perfectly in a cosy corner.

Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977) was an Italian architect, furniture designer and writer. After attending the Scuola Speciale di Architettura at the Brera Academy and graduating in architecture at Politecnico di Milano in 1927 Ulrich started his successful career. Together with Renato Wild he founded a furniture manufacturing company called ‘Arca’ in 1930. The company focused on exquisite materials and luxurious designs. Ulrich worked as an architect and interior and furniture designer mainly for the Milanese upper class but also wrote books about furniture and the Italian style of that time. One example is the book titled ‘Arredamenti, mobili e Oggetti d’arte decorative’ which illustrates the style of the 1930s. His designs are characterized by organic, vivid forms combined with the refined use of materials and striking craftsmanship. Ico Parisi summarized Ulrich’s impact as a designer as the following: “Ulrich was certainly a figure at the forefront among the architects and designers working in Milan at the time: a group of personalities of great value who, like it or not, are those to refer to for the history of the architecture of the 1940s and 1950s.”

Fascinating pair of early 20th century French art deco wingback armchairs featuring a stunning cherry red leather upholstery. The chairs have a mahogany hardwood frame with a unique sculptural style having a flat back and flat wide arms. Embellished with patinated brass tack borders to further accentuate the design. We are delighted to offer for sale absolutely stunning pair of vintage oversized George Hepplewhite wingback armchairs with the Philadelphia oversized wings

These are a showstopping pair of armchairs, they are very large, with the oversized George Hepplewhite frames, the wings are know in the US as Philadelphian wings, they are huge and run all the way to the end of the arms

The chairs look important, expensive and sophisticated in any setting. The frames are a mixture of Oak and Beech wood, they have been ebonised black to the match the velvet upholstery

The pair have been hoovered and the legs polished, there is some light sun fading to the left side of one chair, there may be the odd little mark here or there, otherwise they are in fine order throughout

Pair of original Art Deco Midcentury Modern lounge chairs for sale. They have been professionally restored and are now in showroom condition. The legs are solid birch and have been refinished in a natural birch finish. They were professionally reupholstered in new fabric and foam. The high-end designer fabric that we chose is Fabric & Steel’s Theo in Cinder that goes for $195 per yard and woven in Belgium. It’s a beautifully textured wool blend with a wonderful cozy texture. It’s brown in color with gray, beige, and light brown wonderfully woven. The chair frames are solid and have coil springs on the seat and webbing on the backrest. They are really comfortable and very well made. Very rare chairs from a wonderful period of design. In the manner of Gosta Jonsson, AB Erik Ek, and Flemming Lassen.
