It was made in the 19th century on the African continent, possibly in Ghana. The bowl’s surface is rough and very detailed. The underside of the foot is interestingly texturized aswell, showing the natural shape and character of the material. Its inside is smoothly oval shaped with a narrower bottom than top. The accompanying mortar stick has been hand carved, like the bowl, and is thicker on both ends to ensure longeivety.

I saw only another one like this, but it was not authentic: done for tourists in another part of Africa.
