A 12-piece Art Deco silver-plated knife rests set in the manner of Christofle
French, Early 20th Century
Case: 5cm high x 24cm wide x 24 in depth.
Elephant: 3cm high x 9cm wide x 1.5cm in depth.

Crafted in the manner of Christofle, an important French maker who often based his work upon cubist designs, particularly those of the Swiss sculptor Edouard Marcel Sandoz, these charming animal knife rests are made in silver-plate. Their style blends elements of Cubism and Art Deco, and are divided into six pairs of animals, lions, ducks/doves, monkeys, eagles, elephants, and lobsters. They were made in France in the early twentieth century, and come in a fitted case.

Period Art Deco, it has a crackle glaze finish and is signed impression in the side and stamped underneath Made in France. Produced at Saint Clement and featured in the Le Bon Marche Catalogue 1931. Gorgeous.

Art Deco leopard panther bookends by the French artist Frecourt on a marble base. Fine animal detailing work and signed on the metal with artist name, France and initial C.R. Unusual red marble base in excellent condition. Standing up tall and ready to pounce. Original patina in green verdigris.

Maurice Frecourt was a sculptor during the Belle époque period in France, circa 1890. Although he made a name for himself, it was in 1920 at a Paris Salon Exhibition that he gained true fame and prestige, by bringing the Art Deco style to his animal sculptures.

Inspired by the birth of her first child, Kifu Augousti designed this piece to embrace the whimsical world of a child. The piece is inlaid in bronze-patina brass details with rose quartz inserts. Although inspired by her parents, her collection of home accessories and furniture is a distinct identity of its own. Kifu uses handmade techniques of elaborate inlay patterns of shagreen, shells, semi-precious stones, materials she experienced as a child growing up in her parent’s studio, but interpreted in a younger quirkier way reflecting her youth. From her “jewelry inspired knobs” on decorative boxes, gold bar boxes and an extravagant inlay pattern mix of shagreen and shell inspired by galactic constellations, as seen on her enormous round mirror is refreshing to see. Kifu embodies whimsical elements throughout her collection and is not afraid to be daring and unexpected in her approach to design.

All shagreen-covered items should be kept out of direct sunlight, color variants may occur on the stingray and other exotic finishes, but this showcases the Parisian label’s commitment to creating authentic luxurious products using natural components.

For all pieces inlaid with stone and semi-precious stones, due to the natural quality of the material color tonality and pattern placement may differ slightly per piece.

Wild Natural Clay Sculpture Silo, Burnished Clay from the Mixteca Mountains

Silo is a sculpture that bases its beauty on the material in which it is made.
Made of wild clay from the Mixteca mountains, this clay is cleaned in filters for 20 days before being molded by hand, polished with crushed red stone to obtain this color and burned with firewood. Once the piece is burned, a layer of liquid beeswax is applied to add a unique shine and texture that reflect the nature of the material and its marks from the manual process for its elaboration.
Silo takes the form of a seed that once placed vertically is an obelisk.
