Vintage Design
This roomy, extremely comfortable lounge chair is a high-end and unique design piece by the renowned factory (with the stamp on the bottom of the frame – see photo): the bold curve of the armrests also create its feet as the lines cross over (reminiscent of the famous, more casual armchairs designed by Jan Vanek) making it an outstanding example of streamlined Art Deco furniture. I have never seen another armchair like this one during my 15 years in the antiques business operating from Hungary and neither did any of my contacts.
It seems to be an extremely fortunate sample piece that never made it to the production line – perhaps due to manufacturing costs.
The walnut frame has been hand polished with a matte finish.
The seat and backrest have been professionally restored using professional methods and materials.
It has been reupholstered with an expensive, refined and very durable Morris & Co fabric featuring a subtle geometric pattern in duck egg blue.
The lounge chair is in excellent condition!
