Vintage Design
Here we have a super Victorian shop display cabinet which has originally been used as an apothecary cabinet manufactured by the quality shop fitters Heggie & Aitchinson of Edinburgh. This cabinet is of a super-size and proportions being of a shallow design only 245mm deep. The cabinet dates from approx. c1860 and is constructed from solid mahogany which has mellowed to a super colour over the years. The cabinet has 2 glass doors with mahogany framing and has glass bow ends both ends. The inside back of the cabinet has been papered in a very light cream wallpaper which we have left as it suits the cabinet the inner base is mahogany and there are 4 glass adjustable shelves. This cabinet has been constructed in one piece however the doors could be removed to make it lighter to move into place and the cast iron claw feet could be removed to lessen the height. Due to the narrow design of this cabinet, it is a must that it is screwed to the wall the mirror fixing brackets are still on the cabinet to enable this. This cabinet would look stunning as once again an apothecary cabinet or displaying jewellery in a high-end jewellers shop or displaying other items in a high-end boutique or in any commercial venue where items are to be displayed to their best as they could be in the home displaying family prize possessions.
