Small wall carpet produced by the Weaving Department of the “Torah U’Melakhah” Covenant School of Crafts [Jerusalem, ca. 1920] with a portrait of Max Nordau. Maz Nordau is the pseudonym of the writer Max Simon Südfeld, a Jew, born in Budapest on 29 July 1849, died on 22 January 1923 in Paris, where he had lived since 1880. A highly effective journalist, he was co-founder, together with Theodor Herzl, of ‘ World Zionist Organization, he was president or vice president of several Zionist congress.
